"Oral cancer is a disease resulting from abnormal cell growth in the mouth, lips, tongue or throat. In 2003, an estimated 3,100 new cases of oral cancers were identified in Canada, and about 1,090 deaths occurred as a result of the disease.
The good news is that oral cancer can be treated successfully if caught early enough." -Ontario Dental Association
As you can see above, the key to treating Oral Cancer successfully is early detection. We use newest technology in Oral Cancer Screening, called Velscope VX.
This is how it works: "The VELscope® Vx Handpiece emits a safe, visible blue light into the oral cavity, which excites the oral tissue and causes it to fluoresce. The oral cavity can then be examined in real time, enhancing the practitioner’s ability to quickly identify suspicious tissue that may require further investigation." - LEDDental, inventors of Velscope
Invisalign is a proprietary method of orthodontic treatment which uses a series of clear, removable teeth aligners used as an alternative to traditional metal dental braces.
Wearing the aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact movements your dentist or orthodontist plans out for you. There are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten.
At Finch East Dental Care, we assess if your teeth are candidate for having Invisalign treatment, and if they are we will devise a treatment plan to give you the smile you always dreamed of!
Restorative dentistry is the study, diagnosis and integrated management of diseases of the teeth and their supporting structures and the rehabilitation of the dentition to functional and aesthetic requirements of the individual.
It entails a broad field of procedures from routine fillings to root canal treatments to crowns and bridges and dentures.
At Finch East Dental Care, we carefully review your oral conditions and devise a comprehensive treatment that is tailored to your needs and priorities.

Dental implants are used to retain artificial teeth, facial prosthetics or to act as anchor points for orthodontics.
When replacing missing teeth, a dental implant can support a dental prosthesis. Modern dental implants make use of osseointegration, the biologic process where bone fuses tightly to the surface of specific materials such as titanium and some ceramics. This strong join can support physical loads for decades without failure.
For individual tooth replacement, an implant abutment is first secured to the implant with an abutment screw. A crown (the dental prosthesis) is then connected to the abutment with dental cement, a small screw, or fused with the abutment as one piece during fabrication.
At Finch East Dental Care, implant fixutres are placed by Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon (OMFS) and is then restored in office to provide you with the best possible outcome. Proper treatment planning is the most important key to success of implant dentistry.
Preventive dentistry is the practice of caring for one's teeth to keep them healthy. This helps to avoid cavities, gum disease, enamel wear, and more.
There are many forms of preventive dentistry, such as daily brushing and frequent dental cleanings. These practices are designed to ensure that teeth are clean, strong, and white. Children should be taught proper oral hygiene at an early age.
Depending on the condition of your teeth and gums, you may need dental cleaning annually, every 6 month or even as frequently as quarterly. We will discuss all of these in your Complete Oral Exam appointment.
